Spruce Island, Alaska and Kodiak Bears

We will explore the island by trail and boat, capturing the beauty of the forest, ruggedness of the coastline and history of the island through architecture. Whales and seals are not uncommon, bald eagles, sea otters, fox, deer, and other wildlife are seen regularly on the island. There are no bears on Spruce Island (see below)

An optional 1 or 2-day Bear Viewing Excursion is available. This excursion will be based from Kodiak Island and follows the Spruce Island trip.

I've arranged for full-day trips to maximize the amount of "ground time" spent bear viewing. The location of the bear viewing will be either the Katmai Coast on the Alaskan mainland, or Frazer Lake, a popular location on Kodiak Island. Both locations require a 1-hour seaplane flight each way and the location selected will depend upon the weather and bear activity. A very nice lunch is provided. There is no minimum group size but the maximum group size is 9.
